Comet Ping Pong
2011

Proposed rebranding of a hybrid entertainment space and pizza parlor in Washington, D.C.’s Upper Northwest side.

Featuring original decayed plaster walls, aged wood, and an oversized 1950s era neon sign, the venue finds harmony in its appended steel fixtures, concrete floors, ping pong-style dining tables, and airy skylights. To complement this environment, the identity echoes the materials, geometry, and mood throughout the restaurant.

The logo mirrors the exterior neon sign, consolidating its vibrant personality into a portable representation. The primary grid builds off the various designs of the ping pong tables to create a fluid layout system. In certain applications, the grid and logo may be displaced to create the impression of items suspended in space—resonating the name and spirit of Comet.
